Pepper Green Village, Wayanad review

We stayed in Pepper Green Village for 2 nights during our Wayanad holiday. We wanted to relax in the midst of farms and forest. Based on tripadvisor reviews, we zeroed in on Pepper Green village next to Kuruva Dweep island. You can check out my post on Wayanad to decide which area suits you best for accommodation.

Location of Pepper Green Village, Wayanad

Pepper Green Village is located in Mananthavady, and is very close to Karnataka border. Kabini river flows right next to the property and Kuruva Dweep is few kms from the resort. However, Kuruva Dweep was closed when we went because of rains. The property is in between farms and has a rustic feel to it. The only drawback is it is 2km inside from the main road and the approach road is bad. It gets worse in monsoon.

There are no restaurants close to the resort so assume dinners would be in-house.

Rooms at Pepper Green Village:

The resort is spread on both sides of the approach road. On one side are the cottages with a view of either forest or Kabini river. On the other side are the budget breeze rooms; which have farm view. We booked a tree house called Cinnamon which had 4 trees going through the bedroom. There was a balcony overlooking the farms and a lounge shared with Cassia cottage. Lounge area had a recliner, a centre table and cane furniture suitable for having dinner outside. Because the resort is located in the lap of nature, there are tons of mosquitoes. Do not forget to carry a mosquito repellent with you.

Cassia and Cinnamon rooms are replica of each other. They are on 20 ft elevation and share the elevated platform with Stevia room, which is a larger room with bigger lounge area.

The other cottages in Pepper Green Village are called Ginger, Garlic (both tree houses on a shared platform, but do not have a lounge area), Lavender (in front of the swimming pool, has a kitchenette), Saffron (has a kitchenette) and Mint. Saffron, Lavender and Mint are on the ground floor; which are more convenient for elderly.

Breeze rooms at Pepper Green Village:

Breeze rooms are located across the road from cottage rooms and has the reception and restaurant in its premises. The rooms directly overlook lush farms. These rooms are priced lesser and are smaller in size. They do not have balcony and the room size is like usual hotel rooms. There are also many of them together so offer less privacy. The bed is however of the same size. The view from the Breeze rooms are awesome.

If you are not particular about having a huge room, I would say Breeze rooms are better because of the view.

Food at Pepper Green Village, Wayanad:

The in-house restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. Most of the tourists go for sightseeing in the day so lunch is not served. However, lunch cab be prepared on advance notice.

Breakfast was usually one south indian dish, toast and cornflakes. To our delight, we got puttu on the 1st day which is what we were longing for 😛 A-la-carte menu for dinner has normal North Indian food like veg kadhai/ dal etc. They have non-vegetarian also. We requested them for Kerala meals for the 2nd night and they served it in our room. The food was average. Food for 3 of us (2 adults + 1 kid) costed Rs.500 on an average.

Activities at Pepper Green Village:

Swimming Pool: They had swimming pool (both adult’s and kid’s) which was surprising very clean even in monsoon.

Snooker table: There was room with snooker table on the cottage side of Pepper Green Village. It is very well maintained and a good entertainment.

Staff at Pepper Green Village: Entire staff at the resort is very attentive and caring. All our requests were met politely and quickly. I would not hesitate in recommending them for their service with a smile 🙂 Overall, Pepper Green Village is a good weekend stay if you are looking for a stay among farms and relax. However, if we happen to visit Wayanad again, we will book a resort in Kalpetta/ Vythri so we can visit rest of the attractions too!
