Hanoi Antique Legend Hotel review

Hanoi Antique Legend hotel is a top-rated boutique hotel at a great location of Hanoi. We stayed there for 2 nights during our Vietnam trip in December and were very happy with our stay. The street on which the hotel is located looked quite narrow and cramped in Google Maps. However, I have to say that most of the roads in Vietnam are like that and that should not stop anyone from booking Antique Legend Hotel.

Location:

Hanoi Antique Legend is located very conveniently for tourists. It is walk-able from some of the most famous attractions like Hoan Kiem Lake, Thang Long Water puppet theatre and Opera house. The area has number of restaurants catering to various cuisines and is only a kilometre away from Old Quarters, which is the cultural hub of Hanoi. There is a bank right opposite the hotel which does money exchange. There are also ATMs close by.

Rooms:

We were in a triple room with one large king bed and a small single bed. The room was very tastefully decorated and overlooked the city. It had a flat screen TV, safe, AC, drinking water, minibar and kettle. Bathroom had a bathtub, hair dryer and rest of the toiletries.

Note that if you are a tea/coffee person, carry some milk powder with you. We did not find milk powder in any hotel in Vietnam. There are tea/coffee sachets and sugar; but apparently Vietnamese do not use milk in the tea!

Booking: Hanoi Antique Legend hotel is available for booking on all major OTAs. You can also make a booking directly through their website http://www.antiquelegendhotel.com. Mail them on sales@antiquelegendhotel.com before making any bookings to find out their best rates. The rooms look exactly like the photos on their website.

Amenities: Hanoi Antique Legend hotel is a small boutique hotel and it does not have many amenities as such. It has a spa and a travel desk. We infact booked our airport pickup through the hotel for 18 USD.

Restaurant at Hanoi Antique Legend Hotel

Breakfast is included in the booking and their restaurant Salmon Run is located in the ground and first floor of the hotel itself. Breakfast is buffet style with a mix of continental and Vietnamese dishes. The only drawback was that vegetarians did not have much choice. They had toast, fruits and cereals for veggies. They did make vegetarian fried rice, but veg fried rice in Vietnam has eggs in it so my husband and son did not have it. Pancakes and eggs can also be ordered during breakfast.

The restaurant also has elaborate menu for lunch and dinner, but we didn’t have any meals there.

Staff and Service:

This is where Hanoi Antique Legend is class apart. We booked the hotel directly and I was in touch with them throughout my travel planning to get my doubts clarified. Their sales manager Grace was prompt with replies and was always ready to help me with the planning.

The staff is lovely and makes every effort to make your stay comfortable. They go over and above their duties to understand guest’s requirements and help them. We were greeted with fresh fruits and juice. We were in Hanoi only for 2 nights and our kid’s birthday was a few days after we were supposed to checkout from Hanoi. However, the staff surprised us with a lovely birthday cake for him on the day we reached. The room was also decorated with towel art and a small message for him.

Every staff in the hotel loves to chat with the guests without being intrusive. Given the limited English people in Vietnam can speak, the staff here stands out as one of the best!

The hotel is rated one of the best, alongside some 5 star properties on TripAdvisor. It still caters to mid-budget travellers. Unless you are looking for a 5* property; Hanoi Antique Legend hotel is the place to stay in Hanoi.
